TOOLS YOU WILL NEED
TO BUILD YOUR OWN WEB SITE.

WYSIWYG Web Page Editor:
This is any compatible program that will allow you to make a copy of your web site and save it on your own computer. But no One will be able to see your web site until you upload a copy of it to the web server. WYSIWYG stands for What You See Is What You Get, and is useful for those who do not want to manually type a bunch of HTML code.

A web page is just a document with HTML code written on it but you don't see the code when you visit the web page, only the text and graphics that the HTML code specifies you should see. A normal web page file is saved with the fllowing format: filename.html. The first page you want your web site visitors to see should be named index.html

NATHRON WEB HOSTING DOES NOT SUPPORT Microsoft FrontPage software.

FTP Program:
This is any compatible program that allows you to upload your complete web site to the web server where it will become visible to everyone on the Internet, Your entire web site includes all of the web pages, all of the folders and all of the files in each of the folders that make up your complete web site.

When you want to make a change on your web site, you begin by making the change on the version you have on your home computer and then upload and overwrite the version of that file(s) that exists on the web server.

It is each customer's responsibility to make multiple backup copies of their own web site files. In addition to RAID drives, Nathron Web Hosting does utilize a tape backup system to protect web site files in case of a catastrophic web server failure. But, do not rely on that because the data is only backed up every couple of weeks or so and there is a $250.00 service charge to recover any data lost through no fault of Nathron Web Hosting.

EMAIL Program (Client):
An email client is a program you install on your home computer that you would use to connect to your eMail, mailbox in order to send and receive email. One example of a free email client is called THUNDERBIRD

TIPS: Remember... The bigger web site you have, the more server space it will take up. When making your web site on your personal computer, put all of your web site files into a single folder that will simulate the Nathron web server machine. Determine the total size of your web site by looking at the properties of that folder.
(e.g. Right-Click> Properties)
1 GB (GigaByte) = 1000mb (MegaBytes)

Then when you are ready to upload your web site to the web server, don't upload that entire folder, just upload everything in that folder. As you make changes or additions to your web site, just upload the individual files that were added or changed.
